Mya Byrne is a firecracker Americana songwriter and soulful performer. Her new LP, produced by Grammy-nominated songwriter Aaron Lee Tasjan, is due out in 2022 on Kill Rock Stars. She recently created the theme music for Amazon Music’s Country Heat Weekly podcast, and is a 2022 Rainey Day / Newport grant recipient.

Fronted by a couple of well-dressed crooners and backed by a 4-pc band of well-worn players, Velvetta is a bonafide country outfit. Less like a bar band and more like honky tonk dinner theater, Velvetta stirs a motley stew of country covers and originals spanning every country sub-genre, from the classics to the cringe, 70’s-outlaw and 80’s-crossover to movie soundtracks and TV show themes, 60’s jukebox faves, obscure gems and a peppering of mighty originals, all smothered in cheese. Formed in 2014, Velvetta has since built a steady following due in part to their rambunctious live shows.
