Join SFMTA, San Francisco Transit Riders and 1890 Art Studio for “Moving Pictures: Art and Transit” a Transit Month celebration!
The festivities kick off at 1890 Bryant Street Studios, whose location next to Muni’s Potrero Bus Yard inspires transit-themed art. From drawings of Muni operators, to paintings that examine the waste and ecological threat of automobile traffic, to wearable scarves patterned with vibrant photographs of Market Street’s vintage streetcars, artists explore their different relationships to this vital part of living in the Bay Area. The exhibit will be on view throughout the event at 1890 Bryant Street, where over 100 artists and craftspeople have a community of studio and workspaces. The 27 Bryant stops at the front door of the studio! Also nearby are the 9, 12, 22, 33, and 55 MUNI lines.
Be sure to arrive early for the chance to secure a spot on a bus yard tour, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
After exploring the artistry of transportation, hop on board the iconic 22 Fillmore bus to learn about the improvements made on 16th Street to make the 22 even speedier. We’ll disembark at Arepas to grab refreshments as a group. Embark on a journey of art, transit, and community, and make this Transit Month unforgettable.
