Oakland Diwali Celebration – hosted by Oakland Councilmember Janani Ramachandran

Every year, thousands in the Indian and South Asian community in the U.S. celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, a holiday that focuses on bringing light to darkness and peace to our world. Councilmember Ramachandran will be hosting a Diwali celebration this November to share in the celebration and uplift the Nepali community in Oakland. We will be highlighting Motherland Nepal, a local non-profit, which works to support Nepali and South Asian immigrants through emergency relief, organizing, and education.

Join us at Zanzi Oakland on November 10th from 6:00 – 8:00pm for a lively evening of festive music, performances, delicious small bites, and speakers. Immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of India as we light up the night and build community! Internationally-recognized Oakland DJ Madam Gandhi will be the event host and play a DJ set. UC Berkeley Bollywood dance group Azaad will be performing.

• Franklin Plaza Parking Garage (located at 419 19th Street) has a flat rate of $5 after 5:00pm
