Event Details

Spring is upon us, and the Box Shop’s monthly Open House welcomes the new season! Sunday, March 10th, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Come by to see what’s sprouting at San Francisco’s last remaining industrial art space. Meet artists, check out their studios, and discover how they collaborate in industrial and metal arts in the city by the Bay.

Live music from 1:00-3:30 PM The Orange Sunshine Quartet, a Bay Area-based quartet, is a fusion jazz band led by multi-instrumentalist Fábio Reis. Fábio Reis will be on drums, Kai Lyons on guitar, Colin Hogan on keys, and Steve Hogan on bass.

We’ll have lots of family and kids activities led by San Francisco painter Alejandra Rassvetaieff. There will be art making all over the property with loads of color and bugs, butterflies, and other spring-themed stencils – help us add art to The Box Shop!

Tour 130+ murals: we commissioned local artists to paint more than 130 murals throughout the space. The Box Shop is one of the Bay Area’s largest open-air mural art exhibits!

You can take a stroll in our succulent garden, where plants and sculptures blossom in harmony. Keep an eye for the spring blooms.

Get to meet the artists: The Box Shop is a haven for metalworkers, stone carvers, seamstresses, painters, woodworkers, sculptors, bicycle engineers, electronic car producers, and more. Bring your questions and quench your curiosity.

SEE WHERE MASSIVE ART IS BORN!

Come see where massive art is created: colossal structures are built at The Box Shop. Some become treasured public art, like Entwined Meadow – an installation in Golden Gate Park in the winters of 2020-2024. We’re also a Burning Man arts community hub. Dozens of Playa sculptures and art cars are built at The Box Shop. Check out the space, machinery, tools, and people that make this magic possible!
