The Box Shop Fall Open House w/ 130+ Murals (SF)

Come by and show some love for San Francisco’s last remaining industrial art space. Learn about the artists, their studios, and how they collaborate in metal and industrial arts to build a thriving community.

Catch some live music: from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm the experimental post-rock band Cosmic Microwave Background (https://cosmicmicrowavebackground1.bandcamp.com/) performs their original tunes. CMB is Bruce Ducheneaux on bass, Ragi Dindial on drums and J.GIbson on guitar. Their exquisite harmonies take a dip on stoner rock, shoegaze and lofi.

There will be a kids and family art activities table.

We’ll have guest artists show their art for the first time at The Box Shop. We’ll have muralists making live murals, plus collage, watercolor and multimedia arts.

Tour 130+ murals! We commissioned local artists to paint more than 130 murals throughout the space. The Box Shop is one of the Bay Area’s largest open-air mural art exhibits!

Meet the artists! The Box Shop is a haven for metalworkers, stone carvers, seamstresses, painters, woodworkers, sculptors, bicycle engineers, electronic car producers, and more. Bring your questions and quench your curiosity.

See where massive art is born! Colossal structures are created at The Box Shop. Some become treasured public art, like Entwined Meadow – an installation in Golden Gate Park in the winters of 2020-2024. We’re also a Burning Man arts community hub. Dozens of Playa sculptures and art cars are built at The Box Shop. Check out the space, machinery, tools, and people that make this magic possible!
