Rebecca Black’s journey from viral sensation to acclaimed pop icon showcases her evolution as a multifaceted artist and advocate. Rising to fame at 13 with the viral hit “Friday,” which reached over 150 million views in 2011, she transformed that early experience into a meaningful career. Her 2021 remix of “Friday,” featuring Dorian Electra, Big Freedia, and 3OH!3, commemorated the song’s 10th anniversary and marked her rebirth as a pop and queer icon. In 2023, Black released her debut album, Let Her Burn, celebrated for its bold sound and her uncompromising creative vision. This era followed her first EP, Rebecca Black Was Here, with performances at the GLAAD Awards and collaborations with artists like Slayyyter and MØ. Her advocacy extends beyond music, championing LGBTQ+ causes and anti-bullying initiatives, and earning a spot on Variety’s Power of Pride 2021 list.
