“Unquiet” is the summary of Artist Jimmy McCaffrey’s total body of work so far in the 2020s. The central focus of the exhibit is to materialize for viewers, the magnitude of physical output tied to long-term swings in mood, both highs and lows, in his experience of living with Bipolar Disorder. These paintings were selected as salient examples from each series of work created in his Mission studio, beginning in May of 2020 through the end of 2024— moving to the Bay Area, following a major manic episode in 2019 that forced McCaffrey to resign from a career in NYC commercial real estate. As he recovered and rebuilt his life amidst the pandemic’s uncertainty, Jimmy used the expansion of his artistic practices to recalibrate his perspective and purpose.
