Event Details

About this event

Join San Francisco Public Works for a day of greening and neighborhood pride in District 8 (Glen Park, Bernal Cut, Diamond Heights, Noe Valley, and more).

There will be 7-10 worksites where volunteers will garden, mulch, plant trees, pick up litter, or abate graffiti. The projects and tasks will be different, depending on the site and community group’s requests. This event will happen rain-or-shine.

What to Expect

  • The event kicks off at James Lick Middle School yard with registration between 8:30 AM and 9 AM. Free parking inside the yard.
  • We’ll hold a short speaking program to go over the day’s activities and get a quick safety overview.
  • Volunteers and Public Works staff then will head to their assigned work sites.
  • Work will take place for about 3 hours, with everyone returning to the kickoff location around noon.
  • Sandwiches will be served to volunteers at the end.

What to Wear/Bring

  • Dress in layers
  • Wear closed toe shoes and sunscreen
  • Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated
