“Dean Evans” at Church of Clown (Aug. 2-3)

A culmination of their life’s work, master physical theater artist Dean Evans presents an interconnected, mostly non-verbal, series of vignettes ranging from a few seconds long to a few minutes that collectively creates a hilarious theatrical happening in which a gender nonbinary artist, wriggling under the weight of hetero normative culture, completely unravels. Integrating mime, street style dance, Clowning, and crowd work BMTCOYSMALTBMLALBOF, for short, is an out-of-control opus of the grandest scale.

About the Artist:

Dean Evans (they/them) is a performer, director, and writer. They have performed around the world as a solo artist and with companies such as the Second City, iO, the Goodman, Cirque Du Soliel and many more. Dean is an ensemble member of the renowned performance art collective the Neo-Futurists. Dean was named one of the top 50 ‘players’ by New City magazine. In 2019 Dean made their Off Broadway directorial debut with an original ensemble Bouffon show called Mil Grus. They are currently the Artistic director of The Nonsemble in Los Angeles. Dean is also known for creating the entity who simply goes by Honeybuns. Honeybuns has enjoyed their own career performing in NYC, Chicago, Moscow, Ireland, Austin TX, and Los Angeles. Dean has created over a dozen full length theatrical productions, various immersive spectacles, 3 full length circuses, and dozens of comedic characters. They have appeared on NBC, AMC, TBS, Russia’s минута славы, the onion network, and various commercials and television. Dean also produces and directs films.
