Join us at Epperson Gallery in Crockett, CA, from August 1 to September 7, 2025, for “Toy Soldiers & Self Made Kings,” a compelling dual exhibition featuring Sacramento-based artist Russ Reich and Turlock-based artist Don Hall. This show explores the dynamic intersection of childhood memories and contemporary societal narratives through vibrant and thought-provoking visual storytelling.

Russ Reich’s work draws from pop art traditions, using watercolor and oil to create nostalgic yet incisive images of toys, candy, and comic book heroes and villains. His paintings invite viewers to rediscover the innocence and playfulness of youth while revealing deeper commentaries on culture and identity embedded in everyday icons.

In contrast, Don Hall presents immersive self-portraits that place him within historical scenes, alongside sculptural vessels and plates that combine political satire with geometric abstraction.
