2025 “Kings Mountain Art Fair” in the Redwoods (Aug. 30 – Sept. 1)

Under the canopy of the coastal redwoods, the 62nd annual Kings Mountain Art Fair will take place Labor Day weekend from August 30th through September 1st, 2025. With 20 new artists this year and a total of 130 artists, this juried fair has earned a reputation as one of the premier art events on the West Coast.

“It’s a privilege to watch artists, fairgoers, and volunteers come together to create such a vibrant community in the redwoods,” said Bev Abbott, Executive Director. “Each artist brings not only their work but also their passion, making the fair a place where connections are built year after year.”

The Kings Mountain Art Fair is unique in its commitment to supporting both its local community and the environment, with a goal of becoming a “zero waste” event. The Kings Mountain Art Fair stands out for its beautiful natural setting and for being 100% volunteer run – 400 community volunteers participate every year to plan and host the fair. Launched in 1963 as a fundraiser to build a firehouse in the secluded Kings Mountain community, the fair continues to provide vital funding to the Kings Mountain Volunteer Fire Brigade. The KMVFB responds to over 300 calls annually, providing critical support to the community and its many visitors who come to enjoy hiking trails, mountain biking and the scenery of the redwood forest. The fair also supports Kings Mountain Elementary, a local school in the Cabrillo Unified School District serving approximately sixty children.

Fairgoers can enjoy original art by independent artists as well as excellent food options for breakfast and lunch – including Grandma Jenny’s famous giant cookies, hot and cold beverages (including beer and wine), and children’s games and crafts.

Admission is free. Due to the fragile nature of much of the artwork at the fair, pets are not permitted. Visitors hike, bike, and drive to the fair. Bicycle racks are available on site, and a shuttle service operates for drivers parking along Skyline Boulevard. The site of the fair is located at 2,050 feet elevation in a coastal redwood forest and temperatures can vary throughout the day—dressing in layers is recommended. Artist’s work can be previewed and shopped online before, during and after the fair at kingsmountainartfair.org.

Getting to the Fair

Parking is located along Skyline Blvd. Hiking trails are available along Skyline Blvd between the Purisima Creek Open Space preserve on the north and Richards Road/County Road on the south. They will be well marked for your use. We urge you to park and walk to the fair.

Additionally, we will have free shuttles running about one mile in each direction of the fair, with shuttle stops marked by signs. Shuttles run from 9:30 am until 5:00 pm. Please park to the right of the white line. We don’t want you to receive a parking ticket and spoil your weekend.

We do not have a parking lot, therefore is no “accessible parking” available. Visitors may be dropped off at the front entrance and be seated while companions park the car.

If you Uber to the Fair, please make arrangements for an Uber pick-up, prior to your arrival.

Bicycle racks are available at the south entrance to the Fair or you can dismount and stroll with your bike.

Weather

At approximately 2,000 feet elevation in the Coastal Mountain Range, the weather at the Fair is unpredictable. We may have foggy, cool, perfect sweater weather. Or it may be quite warm, in which case sunscreen is advised.
