Shipyard Fall Open Studios (Oct. 18-19)
Step inside the studios of over 130 artists at the country’s largest historic artist community. This is your chance to explore San Francisco’s vibrant creative hub, meet the artists, and take home original artwork.
Enjoy the ambience of the historic Shipyard and learn about its history and current clean-up operations. And, we teamed up with ArtSpan’s SF Open Studios as their 5th and final weekend. So expect a crowd!

- Visit with over 130 artists in their studios and purchase art directly from them. Explore a diverse range of paintings, sculpture, jewelry, photography, ceramics, metal work and more.
- SILENT AUCTION! A silent Art Auction, featuring works from Open Studios artists! This is a great way to preview a cross-section of the participating artists, discover your favorites, and plan which studios to visit. Free reception October 3, 6-8 PM. Shipyard Gallery in Building 101. RSVP needed.
- Live music – Enjoy jazz by Guitar Trifecta and classical music with Charith Premawardhana performances throughout the weekend.
- Food & Drinks – Local vendors and a beer & wine garden to keep you refreshed.
- Family Fun – Kid-friendly art activities by Art Rocks Clubhouse and free art making with the Museum of Craft and Design.
- Shipyard Clean-up – learn more with special displays and activities.

On October 18 & 19 from 11am to 6pm, painters, metal artists, jewelers, furniture makers, ceramicists, photographers and others open the doors to their studios to the public for two days where visitors can browse, chat and buy art directly from the artists; in addition, this year sees Enterprise Brewing (recently named as one of the top Bay Area taprooms by the San Francisco Chronicle) hosting in the Biergarten while Radio Afrika Kitchen serves up their mix of North African & Mediterranean food, J&D’s BBQ offers grilled meats and sides, Creative Ideas Café brings their choice Colombian and Mexican options and Kahnfections provides coffee and their takes on classic baked goods; other experiences include a how-to demonstration of metal bending + a place for kids to hone their skills held in conjunction with the Museum of Craft and Design.

Shipyard Trust for the Arts’ mission revolves around the large and diverse community of visual artists, musicians and writers who have been working in studios at the historic Hunters Point Shipyard for more than 40 years. Keeping the studios affordable, facilitating arts education and exhibitions that involve people from our surrounding Bayview Hunters Point community and promoting programs and activities inspired by the intimate setting of artists’ individual studios comprise the focus of our work. Our goal is to promote this vibrant San Francisco cultural institution to the local and regional community and increase business opportunities for our artists.
