Event Details

Oakland-based punk band NIXED is teaming up with the innovative Shapeshifters Cinema and a collective of Bay Area filmmakers to launch a new, monthly Punk Rock Documentary Film Series. The series will feature double-feature screenings dedicated to the loud, fast, and fiercely independent spirit of punk rock, exploring the origins, history, and enduring legacy of DIY/punk music and culture in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.

Inaugural Screenings: San Francisco Pioneers & Dublin Firebrands

  • Crime 1978: A rare short film built around a raw, well-documented performance by Crime, famously San Francisco’s “first and only rock ‘n’ roll band,” captured live at Mabuhay Gardens in June 1978.
  • Outsider Artists: The Story of Paranoid Visions: The US Premiere of a feature-length documentary tracing the 40-year history of the influential punk band Paranoid Visions from Dublin, Ireland, detailing their political, cultural, and fiercely independent journey.
