Event Details

“Checkpoint Zoo” is an award-winning documentary by filmmaker Joshua Zeman — one of the most gripping true stories to come out of the Russia-Ukraine war. In the early days of the invasion, four young volunteers joined zookeepers on an impossible mission to evacuate over 5,000 animals — including dangerous predators — from a zoo caught between enemy lines in Kharkiv. The evening includes an expert intro presentation and a post-film discussion and Q&A, making it more than just a screening — it’s a community conversation. Hosted at C Ukraine, a unique Ukrainian cultural space in downtown SF, with the support of the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco.
