Original Event Description:
_Your city. Your crowd. Your crit. The Giro di San Francisco is a classic one-day criterium race held every Labor Day in the heart of San Francisco. Now in its 50th year, the event brings together amateur and elite cyclists for high-speed racing on a fast, technical course through the city’s historic waterfront streets. Presented by Bicycle Law and hosted by the storied Velo Promo and the SF-based racing team, Super Sprinkles, the Giro is a staple of the Northern California racing calendar and a beloved Bay Area tradition. The Giro di SF hosts the 2026 NCNCA Criterium District Championship for P/1/2 and U23 riders. Bring a chair and settle in along the 3/4-mile course. Off the Grid Food trucks will be open from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM and vendors will be open throughout the day in Soft Park. Set against the backdrop of the Embarcadero and Waterfront, the race starts at Levi Strauss Plaza at Battery & Union Streets and courses through a roughly 0.75-mile loop via Battery, Green, Front, Vallejo, Sansome, Greenwich Street. The route has remained largely unchanged since its move there in the early 1980s. Multiple categories run across the day, from early morning women’s and novice races through to the final elite/pro races in mid-afternoon—typically ending around 4:30 PM. With free spectator access, it’s a festive crit, open to all. Welcome to the 50th anniversary of il Giro di San Francisco p/b Bicycle Law. For over 20 years, Bicycle Law has represented injured cyclists and advocated for safer streets supporting the same values this race was built on. Their support is a big reason this year’s Giro is bigger than ever. What began as a bike race now includes food trucks, vendors, and expanded spectator viewing, because Bicycle Law believes in supporting not just cyclists, but the friends, family, and neighbors who show up for them. None of this would be possible without the local businesses, racers, and volunteers behind it every year. Come celebrate 50 years with us on September 7th!_
