Exploratorium’s Final Day
Housed within the walls of San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts, the Exploratorium is a collage of hundreds of science, art, and human perception exhibits.
Free admission on first Wednesday of each month; however, due to capacity limits, groups of 10 or more are required to make reservations or will not be admitted.
Please note January is the last free day of 2013 until May.

On January 2, 2013 the iconic Exploratorium will close its doors at the Palace of Fine Arts in preparation for a move to a new home at Pier 15 on San Francisco’s Embarcadero on April 17, 2013.
Until April, Exploratorium Explainers will be popping up with cool experiments in neighborhoods, parks and key locations from January through March, bringing the Exploratorium’s signature blend of fun, science and participation to passers-by.
- On March 10, a fleet of tricked out moving trucks will bring the On the Move pre-opening festival to outside Pier 15 and the Bayview and Mission districts, for a celebration that’s part road show, part street fair, and part chautauqua.
- Finally, the 25th Annual Pi Day celebration, an Exploratorium-founded “geek” holiday that has achieved international recognition, is an excuse to revel in quirky festivities in honor of mathematical pi, and all puns thereof, on March 14, outside Pier 15.
