Event Details

Get inspired by a free movie screening of the documentary “United in Anger: a History of ACT UP” on Thursday, January 31, 2013.

The feature-length documentary tells the story of how a small group of men and women, of all races and classes, came together in the late 1980s to form ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) to end the AIDS epidemic and save each other’s lives in the face of stunning government neglect, AIDS hysteria, and entrenched homophobia.

The documentary combines archival footage with insightful interviews from the ACT UP Oral History Project. After the film, there will be a Q&A with the director of the film, Jim Hubbard.

The film will be shown in the Health Education Center at Samuel Merritt University.
