The Opulent | Amoeba Music: Free In-Store Mini Concerts

Amoeba Home Grown and ASUC present the 2013 Battle of the Bears band competition champions, The Opulent. Catch them live at Amoeba Berkeley on March 14 at 6pm.

The Opulent began with a solo EP written and recorded by Yoshi Moriyama with the help of various friends. While at UC Berkeley, Yoshi joined with Angela Lee (cello), Cecilia Ojcius (saxophone and keyboard), and Brandon Mashund (drums), and the group began playing small shows. Soon bassist Danny McCarty moved to the Bay Area to join the band. While still a new band, they have quickly become known for an aesthetic based on simple melodies accompanied with profoundly layered harmonies.

Amoeba Music’s Home Grown Independent Artist Program supports the independent spirit by highlighting independent music championed by its employees.
