2nd Annual Playwriting Cage Match Contest | Hayward

The Douglas Morrisson Theatre in Hayward proudly announces its second annual playwriting cagematch contest on Monday, June 10, 2013.

Five playwrights will enter but only one will emerge victorious! Last year’s “Tales of the Hairless Raccoon” was a wild and wooly success, so this year we decided to make the contest an annual event. Join us as playwrights far and wide square off.

The only requirements for aspiring contributors were that the scenes had to be 20 minutes or less, have no more than four characters, and be set at the fictional Hotel Barbary, a ramshackle basement hotel room in the fictional “Hotel Barbary” of San Francisco.

The five scenes will be performed at a live staged reading event at the Douglas Morrisson Theatre. Free admission, but they’ll charge you $5 if you want to vote for the winner.
