Event Details

Freespace Pop-Up Community Center

Freespace is a pop-up community center focused on hacking the civic experience. It is hosted in a 14,000 sqft warehouse in S0Ma, San Francisco, envisioned and implemented entirely by you.

Freespace was originally just a one month project, but it was extended to two months thanks to successful Indiegogo campaign. They’re now open periodically (check their schedule). They host a wide array of events and projects like classes, music, art, silent discos, yoga, a free bikeshare, community engagement and field trips, and more than a few silly costumes.

Creative Reuse Challenge | Freespace Pop-Up Community Center

Make the best birdhouse out of SCRAP materials. They’ll bring the hot glue, nails, hammers and crazy materials, you bring your imagination and carpentry skills.

Each contestant gets 20 minutes to build the craziest, best, most ecofriendly, or most awesome birdhouse. Team participants are also welcome. Judging will be performed by the [freespace] community. Winners will get bragging rights and a gift certificate to SCRAP.

This event takes place at the main stage at Freespace.
