Boys Together Clinging: The Gay Poetry of Walt Whitman
“City of orgies, of walks and joys! Lovers, continual lovers, only repay me.” Take to the streets of the Castro as Walt Whitman’s poetry is yanked from the shelf and presented in a fiery performance that manifests it’s raw, vulnerable, and boundless heart. Through Whitman’s words alone and marking the 150 Anniversary of his erotic and personal “Calamus” poems, Ryan Hayes reveals the importance of one of America’s great poetic visionaries and instigators of gay liberation. “Boys Together Clinging” is a performance that will move you to “celebrate the need of comrades.”
The 17th Street Plaza- where Castro, Market, and 17th Street intersect at the F-Market turnaround.
