The annual Ursid meteor shower always peaks near the time of the December winter solstice.

The low-key Ursid meteor shower is expected to be active around December 17 to 26, 2025. It typically peaks around the December solstice. In 2025, expect peak viewing to be in the wee early morning hours on December 22, 2025.

The Ursids usually peak around the December solstice, perhaps offering 5 to 10 meteors per hour during the predawn hours in a dark sky. Thankfully, moonlight will not interfere with the meteor shower viewing.

The best time to watch is in the hours before dawn.
