Event Details

Re-formed!: Found Object Art, a showcase of artwork inspired by chance encounters of artist and object, will be featured at the Addison Street Windows Gallery from January 17 – February 28, 2010.

A sidewalk opening with live music, a block-long art treasure hunt and sidewalk chalk for artists of all ages will be held Sunday, January 17, 2010, 1:30 – 3:30pm.

About the Exhibit & Artists: For 5 Bay Area artists, Eve Donovan, Helen Holt, Al Honig, Jana Olson and Lawanda Ultan, unlikely finds are re-imagined as unique new treasures. Cast off kitchen implements and musical instruments re-emerge as standing and hanging light fixtures. Discarded wood framing, a broken antique chair and surplus oversized copies become integral elements in multimedia works. And pieces of piping, mechanical and metal objects, and objects found in nature are reborn as figurative and abstract sculpture

Exhibits in the Windows Gallery, located on Addison Street between Milvia and Shattuck Streets in Berkeley’s Downtown Arts District, can be viewed 24 hours a day from the sidewalk, and are free and wheelchair accessible.

Please note that details of this event won’t be posted on the City of Berkeley’s website link until the first week January. The photo we’ve put here is one of found art, but not by the artists involved. As soon as they post their event details online, we’ll update this posting.

Disclaimer: Please double check event information with the event organizer as events can be canceled, details can change after they are added to our calendar, and errors do occur.
