September 24th Comedy Lineup:

MATT LIEB

Move over Shuckey Duckey, there is a new catchphase-based urban racial humorist in town. With catchphrases like “say what?”, “women be trippin’” and “they don’t think it be like it is, but it do”, Matt Lieb has taken the San Francisco Bay Area comedy scene by storm. He has performed with the likes of Brent Weinbach, Moshe Kasher, and W. Kamau Bell. This year will mark Matt Lieb’s 5th year performing at SF Sketchfest.

EJ ALLEN

I’m originally from Brooklyn. Been doing stand up for a year and a half. I’ve performed in venues on both coast (Gotham Comedy Club, Stand Up NY, SF Punchline). In a sketch comedy group called Affirmative Action Heroes.

CHAD OPITZ

SF Bay Area comedy legend Jimmy Gunn bestowed Chad Opitz with the 2013 “Best Newcomer” Award. This is a fitting tribute to the young comic whose sharp takes on horror movies, GMOs, electronic cigarettes and cheap beer has made Opitz a sought after performer by venue bookers and fans alike. Hailing from the great Northwest, Opitz is now becoming a Bay Area staple.

MIKE MONTGOMERY

Michael Montgomery began stand-up at 17 in Los Angeles, and promptly quit because it was “all hard and lame and stuff.” However, after 15 years of learning he was even less talented at everything else, he is now one of the SF Bay Area’s least known (but least liked) comics. His material ranges from very funny to extremely funny, and he could safely be called “alternative” by even the most daring iconoclast. And – perhaps most importantly – he will not physically attack audience members for holding opinions which are oh so very wrong… usually.

MARK SMALLS

Jean-Ralphio is a good friend and occasional business partner of Tom Haverford, who, like Tom, has a penchant for trying to get rich quickly. Jean-Ralphio has some money that was left to him by his deceased grandfather and from a legal settlement after getting run over by a Lexus — an accident he apparently had a hand in setting up (he suggests that he knows a guy who can arrange such an accident, “minor scrapes and bruises, major dollars and cents.” Jean-Ralphio isn’t particularly sharp, though, and is actually far less responsible with money than Tom, who tends to generate all the ideas while Jean-Ralphio most goes along pretending to be part of it.
