SFMOMA “Topping Out” Celebration

The SFMOMA reaches a milestone for it’s new major expansion plans

The steel outline of SFMoMa’s building expansion has reached ever greater heights in recent months, and now it’s time to celebrate.

Although the new project won’t be completed until 2016, join museum and community leaders, friends, and neighbors to see the highest beam lifted into place on their expanded building, and cheer this major milestone with music, food, and festivities.

Wednesday, September 10, 2014 | Noon to 2pm
Jessie Square, Mission St. between Third and Fourth, SF
FREE

  • Noon – 2:00 pm: Take in live musical performances from the Balboa High School Band, Brazilian drumming group Batalá San Francisco, and members of the SFJAZZ High School All-Stars.
  • Enjoy savory and sweet bites from local food trucks and stands Bacon Bacon, Curry Up Now, Garden Creamery, and Sugar & Spun.
  • 12:15 pm: Hear from SFMOMA Director Neal Benezra and other guest speakers, and join the beam-raising ceremony.

The event is free and open to the public

SFMOMA members can  RSVP to receive a special members-only giveaway; supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
