Compete Or Just Watch: Roller Derby Practice | Alameda

Interested in playing roller derby?  Come out this Friday night and check out a practice with the Golden State Roller Girls.  They are recruiting skaters of any level and would like to meet you.

We are a brand-new league and would love to have you if you’re a woman over 21 with a passion for the sport of Roller Derby. But please be advised that we are looking for committed skaters. We are happy to have the occasional guest, but we are not a recreational league or a fitness club…we are the real deal, and we have our eye on being a fierce, competitive league. So we need skaters who are willing to work hard and are willing to stick with us for the long haul. While prior skating experience is not necessary, you do need to be willing to show up regularly, push your boundaries, and accept constructive criticism.

Because we are setting a limit for league membership, we ask that you let us know in advance if you are planning to come check us out, and if you do plan on officially joining the GSRG, that you stick with us. We need a consistent, dedicated group of ladies if we plan to start scrimmaging next year.

We will also need referees, volunteers, and non-skating officials—male or female, ages 21 and over. Please let us know if you are interested.
