It’s still 14 years away from being completed, but that’s no reason to not get excited that the ground-breaking for the ridiculously expensive bullet train from SF to LA finally breaks ground on January 6, 2015.
You’ll have to drive a bit to see the groundbreaking (it’s in Fresno). The project won’t be completed until 2029 and there’s no word at all on how much it will cost to take the trip, but just about anything to avoid the super boring 5 1/2 hour drive up the 5 Freeway is worth it in our book.
