Near-Death Experience Story Night | SF

The International Association for Near-Death Studies-SF presents a free monthly lecture by different speakers, each of whom has had a near-death experience.

The purpose of the meetings is to inform the public about these experiences and to provide a comfortable, informal gathering place for people who’ve had them or who are interested in them and their implications for the study of human consciousness.

Although the meeting location is the Golden Gate Spiritualist Church, a historical mansion which now functions as a spiritualist church, IANDS-SF has no religious or political affiliations and rejects any form of dogma about the nature of near-death experiences.

The International Association for Near-Death Studies-SF presents: What’s the Difference Between a Drug Hallucination and a Near-Death Experience?

IANDS-SF Speaker Martha St. Claire has had both and will discuss her near-death experience and how it changed her life.

Imagine going out for a day of fun waterskiing on the Sacramento River. Your arm becomes tangled in the tow-rope and you’re dragged underwater. When you finally come up again, your life has changed utterly and will never be the same. This is what happened to Martha St. Claire, who had a near-death experience in 1974. During the time she was under water, Martha sensed that she had a “light body”, saw the stars and galaxies that felt familiar – like she was truly “home”.

Many people dismiss near-death experiences as “the hallucinations of a dying brain”. Martha is in the special position of knowing, from her own youthful drug taking, the difference between hallucinations and her near-death experience.
