Event Details

Join members of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Pipe Band as they discuss and play pipe and drum music.

About the Band:
In 2011, the Los Gatos Pipes and Drums was invited by Sheriff Laurie Smith to become the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Pipe Band, and now performs for that agency’s events as well as numerous other local fire and police agencies under the leadership of Pipe Major Lettie Smith. Comprised of both civilian volunteers from the local community and surrounding law enforcement agencies, the Band grew to its current size of 20 plus volunteers. Members range in age from 16 to 75. Approximately two thirds of the band are pipers; one third are drummers.

The Band prides itself on performing at various community activities throughout the Bay Area. Performance highlights include a pre-show concert for Rod Stewart at HP Pavilion on March 15, 2007, and a Coca-Cola commercial that ran during spring of 2006. Over the past few years, the Band has performed an average of 45 events per year. Highlights of these annual performances include: the Los Gatos Christmas Parade, San Jose Christmas Parade, San Francisco Fleet Week, 4th of July and Veteran’s Day Parades, Fallen Peace Officer Memorials, and Pleasanton Scottish Highland Gathering and Games.

Registration appreciated but not required.
