Event Details

Drop in for imaginative craft-making based on the Presidio’s natural and cultural heritage. Featuring different crafts every weekend. Best for kids ages 5 to 12.

June marks the month that the Anza party settled at the Presidio. If you lived in El Presidio after the Spanish arrived in 1776, you might eat your meals on majolica bowls and plates. Majolica is a glazed, colorful style of painted ceramics. Artisans made majolica-style dinnerware in what is now Puebla, Mexico. It was brought up the California Coast. This activity recreates the vibrant designs of those majolica plates, used by the Spanish in El Presidio.
