Event Details

The Osher Marin JCC is pleased to present China Camp: A Photographic Journey, a solo exhibition by artist, musician and Marin County resident Osher Levi. The series, comprised of photographic prints on canvas, focus on the much-revered Marin landmark China Camp State Park as its muse. The opening reception will feature refreshments, live music, an introduction by the artist as well as a presentation by a representative from Friends of China Camp.

20% of sales from each artwork will be donated to Friends of China Camp.

About Osher Levi
My journey into photography began on 1985, in my birth place of Israel, when my father, who recognized my passion for photography, gave me my first 35mm Zenith camera. In my home town of Be’er Sheva we had one printing shop that had their printing machine at the window. I remember standing outside waiting for my prints to be printed, and it gave me so much joy seeing my prints coming out of the machine. Currently, I live in Marin County, California, am married, and have a sweet boy who runs away every time he sees a camera pointing at him.

About China Camp
China Camp has long since provided visitors with unsurpassed hiking and mountain biking trails, scenic vistas, salt marshes, wildlife, and meadows and rugged open spaces. Its designation as a state park was established in 1976, due, in large part, to the efforts of the founding members of the nonprofit organization, Friends of China Camp. In an early Environmental Impact Report written in 1974 by Bob Young, a Marin Conservation League volunteer at the time, China Camp is described as “the last place in the entire Bay Area where an unimpaired natural landscape stretches from Bay shore to mountain top.”

This exhibit is co-sponsored by the Osher Marin JCC and Leib Ostrow. In partnership with Friends of China Camp and the Marin Conservation League.
