“The Unpredictable Road to Creation” Art Talk | Stanford

Enrique Chagoya, Professor in Stanford’s Department of Art & Art History, discusses his own artistic process as it relates to themes in Cantor’s exhibition “Artists at Work.” Drawing from experiences living on both sides of the US-Mexico border in the 70s and in France in the 90s, Chagoya’s work juxtaposes secular, popular, and religious symbols in order to highlight ongoing cultural clashes in global society. Chagoya’s work is collected by the Cantor, the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and many other major museums.

This lecture is part of programming for the Cantor’s special exhibition, “Artists at Work.”
