Event Details

The How-To Homestead 11-in-11 Tour wraps up it’s 11-district journey with its last show of the spring.

These cheap workshops teach locals a really cool, homebody skill that will enrich your lives.

In this stop in San Francisco’s District 9 at Mission Arts Center, you’ll learn all about fermenting techniques to make Kombucha (the hottest thing since everyone went cuckoo over pomegranates) but also how to make soda and sauerkraut (less popular, just still appetizing).

4 to 6 pm: Fermenting 101: Kombucha, Soda and Sauerkraut
This DIY in two hours, complete with tastings, is led by Lauren Anderson of Produce to the People who will share her kombucha and kefir soda secrets and Luke Amaru Chappellet Volpini, a sauerkraut sage who loves revealing the fun and ease of fermenting food.

6 to 7 pm: Potluck and BBQ
That’s right, two of the best things in the world come together– bring a side dish and share some yummy bbq.

7 to 8 pm: Homestead Films Featuring a couple new ditties and as always, musical accompaniment by the beautiful and melodic sk8 sisters.

8 to 10 pm: Contra Dancing
Led by Jordan Ruyle with the Knuckle Knockers

COST: $5 or it’s Free if you bring a potluck dish to share.
