Super Bowl Watch Party at the top of Mt. Diablo | East Bay

Who else is excited for Superbowl L…err… 50? It’s taking place right in San Francisco, except not really – it’s in Santa Clara! Rah-rah, go sportsball teams… What do you think of watching the game LIVE, oh yes, IRL, from about 36 miles away… on top of a mountain?

The stadium might look tiny from so far away, but you’ll probably forget all about the game anyway with so much peaceful, natural beauty atop Mount Diablo in Walnut Creek.

If you’ve ever wanted to bike Mt. Diablo, Super Bowl is probably the best day to do it, according to mountain biker, All Knowing Anne. This will be a chillaxed beginner’s ride 40 miles up the lovely mountain at 3.8k elevation (’cause that’s how tall Diablo is). It’s one long, single climb.

Ready to ride? Save the route to your phone or print it out.

Meetup at Walnut Creek BART, 10 am and they will aim to roll by 10:30 am. Up South gate, down North gate. Return via Pleasant Hill BART. Add #moremiles or camp the night before on Diablo for extra bonus.

Rain and/or terrible weather will likely cancel. It’ll probably be cold. They’ll keep their eye on the weather.
