Heroines of the Civil Rights Movement combines history and textile designs that will honor women whose actions were instrumental in the success of the Civil Rights Movement. Some of the women were well known; others less so, but deserving of greater recognition. This exhibition will feature the absolutely stunning creative “Swing Coat” designs of Ms. Patricia Montgomery, master quilter. Please walk through history as AAMLO’s Chief Curator Rick Moss creates an environment that compliments each swing coat and is conducive to placing the actions of these women in the historical context of this great movement.
Join them for the opening reception on Saturday, February 13 2016 from 2 until 4 pm.
Free, but please RSVP by calling (510) 637-0200. The exhibition will be open until July 16, 2016.
