Science Fiction Art Show “Octavia’s Attic” | Live Worms Gallery
SF Weekly is calling it one of “can’t miss exhibits” of February.
“Octavia’s Attic” is a curated art (& science) event asking: “If you could build a time machine, what it would look like, and how would you use it to save humanity from itself?” This international art exhibition honors the visionary writer Octavia Butler.
Feb. 24: “Octavia’s Attic“ art goes up. Performance artist Kaile Glick writes spontaneous prose for guests (all week).
Feb. 27 and Feb. 28: “Parables of the Future“ – A live and interactive event (presenting drama, poetry, music, and cutting-edge scientific research) beginning promptly at 7 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
- “Octavia Speaks,” an original dramatic performance based on Butler’s words, created and performed by actress Shinnerrie Jackson.
- “Time Dilations,” an autobiographical performance by curator Channing Joseph.
- “Time Travel 101,” University of Connecticut theoretical physicist Dr. Ronald L. Mallett explains how to build time machines. Q&A to follow.
- Performance by Bay Area performance artist, choreographer, author, and Younger Lovers frontman Brontez Purnell.
- Original music by Charles Peoples III.
