NPR named A-WA, a Yemenite folk singing meets electronic dance music trio, as one their top ten global music picks.
From a small Jewish community in Yemen (a place may people only know from that time Chandler told Janice he had to move their instead of breaking up with her) to big city JCCs everywhere, A-Wa takes vintage Yemeni/Arabic women’s songs, and adds in their own flavor and hip-hop beats to create border and genre crossing hits.
