East Bay Booksellers is pleased to host another installment of Freud’s Bar on Wednesday, April 11th at 6:30pm. The theme of their upcoming segments this Fall and Winter is “Tickling the Unconscious”.

The topic of this meeting will be “Why Are We Laughing?”: Jokes, the Freudian Unconscious, and Political Humor.” The evening’s featured presenter is Diana Fuery, LCSW, PhD.

Freud wrote about humor and joke telling. Why do we laugh? What makes a good joke? What does this tell us about our unconscious selves? During this evening, they will tell jokes, discuss Freud’s understanding of what makes a good joke, and appreciate the relief in the political humor of the day. Bring your favorite jokes.

About  the Presenter:

Diana Fuery, LCSW, PhD, is a psychoanalyst in private practice in Berkeley. She has taught a variety of courses in graduate programs on both coasts, and is on faculty at SFCP. Her practice consists of individuals of all ages, as well as couples and family work. Laughing is both a hobby and a passion.
