On Friday, April 2, 2010, Actual Cafe will be opening an exhibit of photography by Dave Glass which documents Oakland and other East Bay neighborhoods during the 1970s and 1980s.
Shot in black and white, the images feature dilapidated buildings, rusted cars, abandoned industrial sites, and local people making the best of their surroundings. Many in the area will recognize landmarks that have since been transformed by the rapid redevelopment of the Cypress freeway corridor and nearby Emeryville.
An opening reception will be held on April 2, from 6:00-10:00pm, and will feature spun vinyl by DJs Oze and Baby Baby, and live synthesizer bleeping by Stevedood
