Spend the day exploring San Francisco’s amazing independent and locally-owned bookstores and eating chocolate..

Take a day to celebrate this amazing resource by taking a big hike through the city and descending on some bookstores and buy tons of books. While snarfing lots of chocolate (chocolate is free at green apple, but for purchase at the other venues)

• NOON Green Apple Books, Clement St. — arrive early and they’ll give you free chocolate.
  12:45pm Walk to the Haight, via Stanyan St.
• 1:30pm Booksmith, plus chocolate at Coco Luxe, Haight St.
  2pm Walk to the Castro, via Cole and 17th St.
• 2:45pm Books Inc. plus chocolate from Harvest Market, Market St.
  3:15pm Walk down 16th to 16th and Valencia
• 3:45pm Adobe Books and Forest Books, 16th. St.
  4:15pm Walk to 20th and Valencia
• 4:45pm Borderlands Books and Dog-Eared Books, plus hot chocolate from Borderlands Café.
  5:15pm Walk to 24th and Florida
• 5:45pm Modern Times Bookstore, plus chocolate from La Victoria Bakery
