Event Details

Litquake continues its Epicenter series at North Beach’s famed Tosca Cafe February 28 at 7 pm with novelist, essayist, film critic, and editor Steve Erickson in conversation with journalist Kevin Berger. This is Erickson’s only Bay Area appearance for his latest novel, These Dreams of You.

Revered as a writer’s writer, fans of LA-based author Steve Erickson have included such literary heavy hitters as David Foster Wallace, Thomas Pynchon, Jonathan Lethem, and Kathy Acker. He has penned nine novels, often described as surreal and apocalyptic, including Days Between Stations, Tours of the Black Clock, Arc d’X, & Amnesiascope. Actor-director James Franco is adapting Erickson’s 2007 novel, Zeroville, as a feature film set to begin production this year.

Currently, Erickson is the film critic for Los Angeles magazine and editor of the literary journal Black Clock. In 2010 he received the American Academy of Arts and Letters award in literature.
