Thanks to Eater SF for sharing the news about what to expect when San Francisco’s brand-new IKEA new Scandinavian food hall opens in early 2024.

San Francisco’s mid-Market IKEA opened August 23, 2023, but the much anticipated adjacent 23,000-square-foot food market is set to open early next year, and now we have intel about who’s moving in. Five business registrations have been filed for the venue including Casa Boriqueña, a plant-based Puerto Rican restaurant. Sadly, after moving out of their space in Oakland, their rental truck with all of their equipment inside was stolen in September 2023. They have a GoFundMe campaign to help them recover from their loss.

Another vegan restaurant is also moving in; Oakland’s cruelty-free taqueria La Venganza. Plus fast-casual chain, Curry Up Now, featuring Indian street food including vegan menu items like their Hella Vegan Bowl and a Deconstructed Samosa, Momo Noodle, which made San Francisco Chronicle’s “Best Bay Area Food Trucks” list, serving up Chinese dry stirred noodles, and The Sarap Show, dishing up Filipino-American comfort food. The Sarap Show also offers a vegan menu modeled after their traditional meat-based menu including Impossible Curry Curry Lumpia and Very Vegan Sisig Rice Bowl made with stir-fired tofu.

If you’ve noticed a theme, the new two-level Saluhall food market plans to feature vegan dishes with a goal of 80% of the choices being plant-based dishes. The food hall will also have 3 bars to satisfy your thirst.
