Could Huge Outdoor Concerts Be Coming Back to SF Soon?

State changes rules to allow fans at “live performances” starting April 1

California state officials just announced updates to their blueprint for opening California and moved up the timelines for reopening.

In addition to announcing that outdoor stadiums and theme parks can reopen starting April 1, officials also announced that live performances with fans/attendees can take place starting April 1.

San Francisco is currently in the Red tier and on track for being in Orange within a few weeks. Alameda County is still in the Purple tier.

Updates to the California Blueprint for Reopening (as of 3/5/21):

Live performances (with fans/attendees) can begin April 1.

    • Purple tier, capacity will be limited to 100 people or fewer and attendance will be limited to regional visitors. Advanced reservations will be required, and no concession or concourse sales will be allowed.
    • Red tier, capacity will be limited to 20%. Concession sales will be primarily in-seat.
    • Orange tier, capacity will be limited to 33%.
    • Yellow tier, capacity will increase to 67%.
    • Attendance will be limited to in-state visitors in the Red, Orange and Yellow tiers.
