Thanks to KRON4 for sharing the news that sadly, Sai’s Vietnamese Restaurant in San Francisco is being forced to close.

The restaurant has been around for nearly 40 years, but unfortunately, their landlord has told them they have to vacate the building in 30 days.

The family-run business, which opened in 1985 at 505 Washington St., is scrambling to save their restaurant. They’ve set up a GoFundMe and have made the following announcement:

We at Sai’s Vietnamese Restaurant are facing an issue where the landlord has decided to not renew our lease and has asked us to leave the premises next month by February 28 after 37 years serving this community. This puts our business in jeopardy and employees not having a job because it is impossible to find, negotiate, and relocate to a new location in 30 days. We want to keep our employees employed and relocate nearby to continue serving this neighborhood. In reality, this isn’t enough time, and if we do not find a place in time, we will have to layoff our employees.
The funds will be used directly for the costs of purchasing/building another restaurant as well as relocation expenses and purchasing new equipment. In addition, the funds will go towards retaining our employees which will allow us to continue to serve the SF community.
Due to the hardship from the COVID-19 pandemic, this fund will make a tremendous difference so we can continue to fight through this pandemic and continue to be a part of SF. We are devastated by this short notice from the landlord. Words would not be able to express the gratitude the Sai’s family and employees will receive from this support. We THANK YOU for your support and hope to make this happen very soon.
From the Sai’s family.
