Event Details

On the second Saturday of every month, you can take guided tours of the historical exhibits, which weave California history with the stories of today’s Fruitvale community at the Antonio Peralta House Museum.

On Saturday, February 13th, the tours will be more fun than ever. A trained docent will give a special kid’s tour, getting hands-on with history. In our temporary exhibit, “Embroidering Our Lives: Mien Women at Peralta Hacienda,” we’ll have a family-friendly embroidery activity: challenge yourself to create the complex patterns found on traditional Laotian Mien clothing, and learn what they mean.

  • 2:00 PM: Tour of Peralta House and “Embroidering our Lives”
  • 3:00 PM: Kid’s Tour of Peralta House and “Embroidering our Lives”
  • 3:30 PM: Tour of Peralta House and “Embroidering our Lives”

Activities and hot drinks throughout

The Peralta House house was built in 1870, near the site of Antonio Peralta’s earlier residence, which is the oldest European structure in the East Bay! Indoor and outdoor exhibits, including an immersive audio tour, tell the story of the birthplace of Oakland, the Peralta family and the original Ohlone inhabitants of the land.

Admission, including a tour, is free with a $3 suggested donation.
