Opera Movie Screening | SF Main Library
Merola Goes to the Movies is a new series at the SF Public Library that presents great opera-themed movies that have been captured on film.
Each film is preceded by a short, pre-screening talk by a Merola representative who will give an insider’s look at the opera and interesting facts about the making of the film.
All screenings start at 1 pm at the Koret Auditorium at the San Francisco Public Library Main Branch. Admission is free. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Screenings are recommended for ages 10 and older.

Ingmar Bergman's "The Magic Flute" | Opera Movie Screening | SF Main LibraryOn Saturday, March 29th at 1 pm in the Koret Auditorium of the SF Library Main Branch, the Merola Opera Program presents a free screening of Ingmar Bergman’s 1975 classic version of Mozart’s The Magic Flute.
Free, but an RSVP is required.
One of the world’s most beloved operas, Mozart’s work is set in a mythical land between the sun and the moon, this whimsical opera features creatures, queens, and a magical flute in a celebration of love. In Swedish with English subtitles.
Before the screening, there will be a short talk about the making of the film by an Merola Opera representitive. At the screening, guests are welcome to enter a free drawing to win Merola Opera Program prizes.
