Event Details

On May 22, 2014, the US Postal Office will release the first stamp dedicated to Harvey Milk.

The Harvey Milk stamp is being issued as a Forever stamp and was designed by art director Antonio Alcalá. It centers on a photo of Milk taken by Daniel Nicoletta in front of Milk’s camera store in SF.

First Day of Issue: May 22, 2014
Cost: 49¢

Buy Online or in a “Milk Line” in the Castro
You can order the stamps online, or you can also join the “Milk Line” to buy the newly printed stamps in the Castro on May 22, 2014, though they will have only limited stamps on hand. There will be no speeches and no politics – just a Milk Line.

What’s a Milk Line? During Harvey’s campaign days, Jim Revaldo, and Dick Pabitch created the spectacle of the Milk Line, People lined up carrying signs that said Milk for Supervisor. This worked and still got attention. Come as you are, dress up, buy stamps, carry signs, flags and enjoy Harvey Milk Day. Because we are living his dream.
