Event Details

Together in cyberspace, separated by our feeds

George Bernard Shaw (among others) made the observation that Britain and America are two nations separated by a common language. The advancement of technology has only atomized our differences further, such that we are now all denizens of the internet, separated by a common medium. We often hear people say that social media isn’t “real life.” And yet we spend hours inside it, scrolling, observing, and keeping tabs on one another’s joys and failures in real time. This edition of 2nd Saturdays at Bazaar Cafe gas the theme “Online and Alone” and we shall reflect on the remarkable distance our interconnectedness creates — the strange physics of connection in a world where we can see each other constantly, yet still feel apart.

Sonia Espiritu is an East Bay native who urges those around her to build and support their community, especially through the means of creating art. Her music ranges from indie to alternative to punk to reflect the diverse experiences that life has to offer. Recently, she has been drawing inspiration from those around her in the local DIY community.

Daimen Seid is a San Francisco-based singer-songwriter whose childhood was spent moving across the USA, Europe, and Central America where he picked up a range of musical influences. After spending years bouncing around the East and West Coasts and playing in various bands, Daimen decided to start releasing original music under his own name. He capped off 2025 with his first single as a solo artist, Climb. Heading into 2026, Daimen is preparing for the release of his debut album on which he is accompanied by Charlie Hall and Robbie Bennett (both of The War on Drugs). Peter English (The Sun Line ), and his longtime multi-instrumentalist collaborator David Sorokanich. The album was produced by Brian McTear and Amy Morrissey (The War on Drugs, Sharon Van Etten, Kurt Vile).

Hosted by cyberspace-cadet E.G. Phillips.
