SF City Guides: Rare Neighborhood Walking Tours Month | October 2019
San Francisco City Guides offers dozens of free guided walking tours, all over the city, throughout the year.
But things get special during the months of May and October each year, when the San Francisco weather is particularly pleasant, City Guides add a slate of rare neighborhood explorations to its year-round tour schedule. Go off the beaten path and discover the colorful characters, beautiful vistas, and charming architectural treasures that can be found in communities. Each San Francisco neighborhood has a distinct architecture, history, and personality that deserve in-depth exploration.

Hike in Glen Canyon | SF City Guides: Rare Neighborhood Walking Tours Month | October 2019See hidden gem in plain site, uncovering what happened and didn’t happen in the colorful history of Glen Canyon Park. The opening of the Mission Zoo in the 1800s was labeled “the sensation of the century.” Designated as a significant natural area, it’s the last above ground creek open to the public.
The tour is limited to 15 hikers, but please note, rain cancels. Transportation BART or bus #44, 52, 23, & 36
Wear sturdy shoes and be able to crouch down to go under the willow branches. Terrain is uneven and can be slippery when wet. There is poison oak in the canyon. This hike is considered a vigorous hike.
