Albany | Beard & Mustache Contest & July 4th Celebration | 2013The little, friendly city of Albany throws one of the quirkiest July Fourth celebrations in the Bay with a Mustache Contest, a baby race called the Diaper Derby, a reptile vivarium and in 2013 – free ice cream.

At the 2013 Green, Red, White & Blue Celebration there are also 3-legged races, egg toss, sack races…fun for the whole family from noon to 4 pm on July 4, 2013 in Memorial Park.

Watermelon Eating Contest

Beard & Mustache Contest: Start growing that mustache or beard (or make one at home). Prizes given for the natural and unnatural!

Free Ice Cream provided by the Albany Chamber of Commerce

3rd Annual Diaper Derby: 2 pm (Register at Derby table by 1:30 pm)
Who’s got the fastest baby in town? Our first Diaper Derby last year was a huge success! Divisions: Crawlers: 6-10 months (10 feet), Crawlers: 11+ months (15 feet), Tippy Toe Toddlers: 11-24 months, Tippy Toe Toddlers: 24-30 months. Register at the Diaper Derby table.

East Bay Vivarium Reptile Show 

Fourth of July Pet Show: Got a favorite pet you wanna show off? Bring it down to the famous 4th of July Pet Show. Prizes for Best Trick, Smallest Pet, Biggest Pet, Look Alike (owner and pet), Ugliest, Cutest and Most Patriotic.

New: APAL Car Show: noon to 3 pm
Got a jewel of a car to show off? Register for the 4th of July Car Show by filling out the online application by June 10. (APAL Car Show Application) You can also visit the APAL website or contact Peggy by calling 510-526-7855.

Family Games: 3:30-4 pm
Make sure you are ready for the Family Games-3-legged races, egg toss, sack races…fun for the whole family.

Kids can purchase a Fun Band for $5 that gets them unlimited use of the:

  • Game Tent (Ping Pong, Air Hockey, Foosball)
  • Dunk Tank
  • Quad Bungee Jump
  • Giant Obscale Course
  • Human Hamster Balls
